Kellogg recently
unleashed a new twist on Frosted Flakes cereal. Kellogg’s
Frosted Flakes Gold Energy cereal contains whole grains and less sugar than
Tony’s flagship brand. Kellogg hopes the new honey coated
whole grain flakes will resonate better with consumers than 2005’s Tiger Power,
which was taken off store shelves by 2006. Frosted Flakes’s senior brand manager Roxanne Bernstein said, “Moms are
looking for ways to incorporate whole grains into their kids diet, but they
need whole grain options that taste great so kids will actually eat them.” Kellogg
may have just the formula this time around, as parents and children have become
more nutritionally conscious since the release of Tiger Power.
Kellogg may
run into some trouble regarding its healthy product claims. Bonnie Liebman,
